Foundational Rock Climbing Course
This is the course that sets the foundation through which years of rewarding climbing can have its beginning. Designed for those who are serious about developing a framework of solid climbing skills and knowledge. During this 16 hour course you'll be introduced to modern climbing and safety equipment, its use and care. We will cover the concept and use of belay and anchor systems, specific knots, rope management, and climbing techniques. Climbs will vary, but each route clearly demonstrates the need for balance, agility, and control. Also covered are rappelling and ascending methods, subjective and objective hazard evaluation, as well as standard voice signals, route selection, and climbing ethics. This comprehensive course specifically guides you through thought provoking scenarios and illustrations that are inherent to climbing. Upon completion of this course you'll have gained a greater understanding and be practiced in the fundamental techniques of rock climbing and risk management. Further, you will have received a sound beginning toward developing your own personal climbing style and ambitions.
